Incident Management

Road Ranger Service Patrols

Road Ranger Service Patrols provide incident management and motorist assistance services along the roadways of Miami-Dade County.

The FDOT District Six SunGuide TMC manages and operates the Road Ranger program to ensure these services are well-coordinated with partner agencies.

The program is part of a national initiative, which began in District Six in the late 1990's and has served to reduce congestion, and improve the overall mobility of the surface transportation systems. District Six is committed to operating the Road Ranger Program and continuously strives to improve the efficiency of the services provided. The SunGuide TMC serves as the control and command post for all field operations. TMC operations staff dispatches the Service Patrols to incident scenes and are in constant communication with the patrols on the field.

The District Six Road Ranger fleet consists of 36 vehicle operators that service Interstates 75, 95, 195, 395, and State Road 826. During Fiscal Year 2008/2009, Road Rangers responded to an average of 2,775 incidents and performed more than 6,000 assistance activities per month.
