Florida Section Institute of Transportation Engineers Recognizes FDOT District Six’s 95 Express
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) continues gaining recognition for the successful planning, designing and launching of the 95 Express project.
This time, it’s with the Florida Section Institute of Transportation Engineer’s (FSITE) John W. Barr District 10 Transportation Achievement Award. The award recognizes significant and outstanding achievements by organizations concerned with transportation that demonstrate advancements of the transportation engineering and planning profession.
FDOT District Six was the 2009 recipient of the award for executing Florida’s first-ever High Occupancy Toll (HOT) lanes project: the 95 Express, which integrates several innovations like the advanced use of design exceptions to add lane capacity without compromising safety, partnering with the Florida Turnpike Enterprise to use their SunPass ITS Technology for toll collection, and exceptional crash management using the Road Ranger Service Patrol Program. FSITE presented the award to the District in June 2010.
The award further cements the District’s position as a national leader in the ITS field. For more information about the various other awards earned by the District, please click on the “Awards” section on the left sidebar.
