Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) are electronic signs that can change the message they display.

DMS are an important part in traveler information and event notofication. Posting messages that provide motorists with critical information can help reduce congestion that improves the mobility and safety of the surface transportation systems.

The District Six SunGuide TMC is committed to providing travelers with up-to-the-minute traffic information that may affect their travels via these important ITS devices. Informing motorists about real-time incidents and confirmed lane-blockage events, such as crashes, disabled vehicles, roadwork, car fires, and hazardous material (HAZMAT) spills empowers them to make informed decisions about their routes of travel. DMS boards are also used to post Amber Alerts, Silver Alerts and Leo Alerts.
