Roadway Detectors

Roadway detectors capture traffic data, such as vehicular speed, volumes and occupancy.

The information collected is used to alert SunGuide TMC operations staff when abnormal traffic flow conditions occur to assist in the overall traffic management process. Detectors are strategically placed along major roadways and are used in conjunction with other ITS devices to manage traffic according to real-time conditions. These devices are also used to capture data for use in traffic studies.

Currently there are more than 200 detectors deployed through the various roadways in Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties. For a complete list of detector locations, click here.
