Closed Circuit Television Cameras (CCTV)

The District Six SunGuide TMC utilizes Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras to monitor the roadway conditions along Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties. Currently there are more than 200 CCTVs deployed along the various roadways within our District.

Operations staff use these devices to verify and detect incidents for the proper coordination of incident management resources.

Proactive use of CCTV cameras helps to improve the TMC's incident management productivity, dispatch response times and performance measures by providing early detection, incident verification, increased visual coverage and most importantly, motorist safety.

In addition to incident management, CCTV's are also used to assist the TMC operations staff generate information to populate the 511 Traveler Information System, determine severity of incidents when deploying the Rapid Incident Scene Clearance (RISC) resources, as well as other services provided by the ITS Program.
