Travel-Time Messages Now Displaying Along I-95
For the first time in South Florida, drivers traveling along I-95 are getting accurate, up-to-the-minute travel-time information when crossing between Miami-Dade and Broward counties.
The initiative is a result of a joint effort between the Florida Department of Transportation’s District Six and District Four offices to give drivers trip-time estimations when traveling on I-95. Dynamic message signs (DMS) located along northbound and southbound I-95 will display these estimates to give commuters enough time to make better informed driving decisions when traveling along the corridor.
A total of 11 DMS will display this information along the 21-mile stretch of the highway on the local lanes. Seven DMS in Miami-Dade County and four DMS in Broward County will display this information for estimates on I-95 between I-395 and I-595 and for estimates between I-595 and the Golden Glades Interchange, respectively.
Drivers are encouraged to call 511 before they drive or log onto Florida 511 to get real-time traffic and lane closure information. FDOT reminds drivers that wearing a safety belt is the single most effective way to protect people and reduce fatalities in motor vehicle crashes. Please drive cautiously in work zones.
