More Travel Time Messages Now Available on State Road 826 / Palmetto Expressway

Four additional Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) are now displaying estimated travel time information along Miami’s (S.R.). 826/Palmetto Expressway.

The four signs are located at strategic points of the highway offering motorists estimated travel times to other highway within the county limits. All four DMS’s are located in advance of a major exit ramp to give drivers enough time to make smarter, more informed decisions when traveling through decision points that connect S.R. 826 to Interstate 75 (I-75), Interstate 95 (I-95), and State Road (S.R.) 836/Dolphin Expressway.

Two S.R. 826 southbound DMS display travel time messages to S.R. 836, and one S.R. 826 northbound DMS displays a travel time message for motorists connecting to I-75. The fourth sign displays a two-phase message providing travel time information for motorists traveling north along S.R. 826 and going towards Miami Gardens Drive via I-75, or traveling north towards I-95 within the Golden Glades Interchange area.

Posting travel time messages along our highways is another way the Department is helping to ensure more reliable trip times. By providing motorists with real-time traffic information in advance of major decision points, such as travel times, drivers can better plan their trips to avoid congestion and arrive to their destination faster and safer.
