FDOT’s Traffic Videos Now Available on SunGuide.org!
The Florida Department of Transportation's (FDOT) closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras from around Miami-Dade and Monroe counties' major highways, including Interstates 75, 95, 195, 395, State Road 826 (Palmetto Expressway), and US-1 are now streaming traffic videos on www.SunGuide.org!
The FDOT District Six Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Office added this feature to enhance its traveler information services and provide motorists with a real-time view of traffic conditions along more parts of its highway system. Visitors can now click on an individual camera icon on the Traffic Videos page to get a closer look at the latest highway conditions before driving to their destination. To view a group of cameras at one time, visitors may still select the "streaming video tours" option for a larger segment of the highway, and for more detailed traffic reports, users are encouraged to log on to www.fl511.com.
This enhancement is part of the Department's on-going effort to provide users with accurate and reliable traveler information. Real-time information empowers motorists to make informed decisions when planning their travels, helping them avoid delays that may add to roadway congestion.
