District Six Launches the RISC Program
FDOT District Six continues to expand its Incident Management Program by implementing the Rapid Incident Scene Clearance (RISC) Contract to clear large-scale events quicker, safer and more efficiently.
The RISC Program uses a monetary, incentive-driven mechanism to expedite the complete clearance of complex events that block travel lanes along the District’s limited access facilities. Unlike regular towing services that assist in clearing typical incident scenes, RISC Contractors specialize in removing vehicles or debris that require additional personnel and heavy-duty equipment to restore roadway capacity back to its original conditions. Two locally-owned towing companies have been contracted to assist in this capacity, and are helping the Department manage events, such as overturned tractor trailers with spilled loads along Interstate 95, 195, 395, 75 and State Road 826.
