511 at the Miami-Dade Heart Walk!

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) recently participated in this year’s Heart Walk – bringing the 511 message to more than 10,000 participants in Miami-Dade County.

The event was a huge success and the 511 presence was well represented. Outreach materials drew big crowds and provided volunteers with a great opportunity to educate the public about the 511 Traveler Information System. Event-goers engaged in games and activities for their chance to win 511 prizes, and volunteers roamed the park distributing tip cards informing the public on how to navigate through the new system. A portable Dynamic Message Sign displaying a 511 message was also placed along the walker’s route to increase program visibility along various points of the event.
